Cusco

2 months in a mad city

sunny 20 °C

Its reaching that time when you know you´ve been in a place too long. Don and I have been in Cusco since the 12th June now. My voluntary project has been brilliant because of the children and Paola their teacher. As you can see we have taken a few trips whilst staying here,
Machu Picchu, the Jungle at Manu Biosphere reserve. Pisac and other ancient Incan sights.

We stayed in the city centre for a month at a grand total of 250 soles, about 60 odd quid. Ive moved back to my home stay in outskirts as weve done the centre to death now. Its a beautiful city but definately has its limits.

I really reccomend going to the Jungle and if you cant do the Incan trek, try the Salcatay? its cheap and the same time.
The people here are lovely, if not trying to make the best of a chaotic system. Scraping a living, driving faithfully etc. dry heat, damp heat cold nights etc.

As for I TO I volunteering? Dont bother, get in touch with a charity or a really good agency where you know your money will actually benefit those who need it. My homestay was like living in a mansion, she really doesnt need the money.

To Nasca down and across to Puno next ..........
